High Sheriff's Sponsored Walk
A ten mile sponsored walk, starting from Launde Abbey, with funds raised donated to Hope Against Cancer and Warning Zone.
The walk will start from the front of Launde Abbey, the historic building now used as a retreat and Conference Centre by the Church of England (http://www.laundeabbey.org.uk/). Parking will be available. Postcode for your Satnav: LE7 9XB.
A map is available (by email, print your own, or handing out on the day) with the route marked. Briefly, the route goes through the ancient woodlands of Launde Big Wood and Launde Park Wood, then across rolling countryside past Leigh Lodge and along a section of the Macmillan Way to Prior’s Coppice. Thence to the village of Braunston in Rutland, which is about half way round. The return route passes close to Withcote Lodge and the lake at Withcote Hall before joining part of The Leicestershire Round to return to Launde Abbey.
Refreshments can be purchased half-way round at The Blue Ball in Braunston and on return to Launde Abbey.
Marshalls will be available to guide and assist.
Please note that parts of the walk on private land, with access kindly made available by the landowners for the purpose of this event only. Please do not try to repeat the route on other occasions or you may find you are trespassing on private land.
Participants will be provided with a sponsorship form and are asked to seek sponsors. Donations are also invited through the website at https://www.justgiving.com/SheriffwalkLaunde/
