Looking back at an amazing year
What a year 2018 has been! We celebrated our 15th anniversary, put on some incredible events, and most importantly, continued enabling people living with cancer to receive ground breaking treatment through funding vital, life-saving research locally.
2019, you have a lot to live up to!
Being at the forefront of advancements in cancer treatment
Since opening in 2012, our clinical trials facility’s work in testing potential new drugs and treatments has risen from 60 trials in 2013/14, to 97 in 2017/18. This incredible achievement demonstrates just how the funds raised for Hope are impacting on research into cancer. This simply wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Leicestershire community!
This year, we’re hoping to continue building on the success of 2018 by increasing our capacity for clinical trials and ensuring that Leicester remains a centre of excellence for cancer research.
An amazing fundraising year
Throughout 2018, our volunteers and fundraisers worked tirelessly to put on all sorts of events, to support our vital work.
The events held through 2018 ranged from themed evenings and golf events, to an outdoor expedition in the Lake District. We’re so proud of everyone’s efforts, both within the Hope team and the incredible members of the community.
There are plenty of events to look forward to this year, so why don’t you become part of an even better 2019!Take a look at our upcoming events for 2019!
An award-winning year for the Hope team
2018 was a particularly significant year for many members of our team. Their hard work meant that we received a number of awards, including the ‘Community Impact Award’ from the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce.
This award was open to organisations demonstrating continued commitment to supporting the local community and the good causes within it, being presented with such a prestigious award was a proud moment for all of us.
Not only that, but individual members of the Hope family won awards themselves as a result of their incredible efforts and dedication. Our Corporate & Events Fundraiser Tracey Hallam was named ‘Inspirational Woman of the Year’ at the Leicester Mercury Women in Business Awards and our amazing trustee Eileen Richards MBE took home ‘Businesswoman of the Year Award’ at the same awards.
Eileen was also proud to be awarded an MBE for her hard work and her efforts to promote female entrepreneurship – a true honour which Eileen thoroughly deserves.
A word of thanks from our Chief Executive
Of course, the success of 2018 wouldn’t have been possible without our people and the support of the Leicestershire community. As Nigel Rose, our Chief Executive, says:
“2018 has been such an incredible year for us as a charity and that is thanks in no small part to the generosity of the Leicestershire community. We’ve met some amazing fundraisers throughout the year, with some inspirational stories, and it’s these people who are the beating heart of what we do.”
“We’ve seen time and again how their hard work makes a difference,” Nigel adds. “And we’re proud of them all. Seeing our trustees and team members gaining the recognition they deserve has been truly fantastic!”
Here’s to a successful 2019!
