This has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Former policewoman, Sally Creedon has been volunteering with Hope since November 2014. She supports us assisting our fundraising and events activities.
We asked her why she decided to support Hope, she explained:
“It seems that there’s one certainty in life when you hit middle-age – you start to come into contact with people diagnosed with cancer. Over the last 15 years, I have lost both family members and close friends to this wicked and indiscrimating disease.”
Sally had been aware of Hope for many years and attended many of the events that we organise to raise funds. She takes up the story:
“Last November, I decided to give the Hope office a call to offer them some of my time as a volunteer – bizarrely, the next day, someone extremely close to me was diagnosed with bowel cancer…. sometimes things happen for a reason!”
Sally adds: “Four months in and I can honestly say that this has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. I find Hope friendly and welcoming, the work is interesting and extremely rewarding and I know that Hope Against Cancer are making significant difference to the lives of people with cancer in Leicester and Leicestershire which must mean in my own small way, I am too.”
