Trustee Eileen named on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list!

We’re proud to announce that one of our trustee board members, Eileen Richards, has received an MBE in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Eileen has been such a fantastic supporter of us here at Hope Against Cancer, and she’s also worked wonders for entrepreneurship.

It’s fantastic to see Eileen’s commitment, dedication, and passion recognised with such a prestigious accolade. She was named as one of Leicestershire’s nine representatives in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, and rightly so in our opinion (though, of course, we’re slightly biased!)

Awarded the MBE for her work in promoting female entrepreneurship, Eileen is the Co-Chair of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce’s Enterprising Women Initiative, giving aspiring female leaders all the support and encouragement they need to grow and develop into the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Having built up her own business, ER Recruitment, right here in Leicester, Eileen has always astounded us with her drive and determination. As a board member for Hope Against Cancer, Eileen has been instrumental in driving forward our very own charity business club, “Hope Through Business”. Without the commitment and hard work of her and all our other board members, we simply wouldn’t be able to carry on supporting people affected by cancer and their families.

Let’s hear from Eileen herself!

“I was thrilled and humbled to be named on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List,” she explains. “There are no words that could express how grateful I am to receive an MBE and for the support that everyone has given me. Being on the board of Hope Against Cancer and seeing the difference they’ve made in helping people affected by cancer has been such a fantastic experience for me as well, and I’m delighted to be at the forefront of continuing our hard work in the future. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen!”

Nigel, our Chief Executive, adds, “Eileen’s hard work both for us at Hope Against Cancer and for the wider Leicestershire community has been nothing short of inspirational. She has been a trustee member for over two years now and in that time, as well as putting her time into our fundraising efforts, she has, along with trustee Duncan Green, developed our business club, which is now thriving. Eileen thoroughly deserves to be honoured and we couldn’t be any prouder of what she has achieved so far!”

On behalf of us all here at Hope Against Cancer, a huge congratulations to Eileen and an even bigger thank you for your continued support!
