Hope Against Cancer finalist in the Niche Business Awards

On Friday 6th September, Hope Against Cancer attended the Niche Awards as nominees in the Charity of The Year 2019 category. At a glitzy awards night, it was a huge honour for Hope to be nominated.

The Niche Awards has solidified itself as one of the highlights of the Leicester business calendar. Organised and orchestrated by the staff of Niche Magazine, the Awards have been in operation since 2015. This year, the event was hosted at the Athena in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter - a former cinema which retains all the glamour of the movies.

Entertainment was certainly not in short supply at the event. The Hope team were treated to an evening of casino games, the proceeds of which were kindly donated to the winning charity, Focus.

The Charity of The Year award looks for organisations that actively make a positive impact on the Leicestershire community. Essentially, it’s a barometer of how well a charity is loved by the denizens of our great county. It really is an achievement even to be associated with this prestigious award.

Hope CEO Nigel Rose was incredibly grateful for the nomination: “This nomination is a testament to everyone who makes Hope what it is today: our dedicated staff and loyal volunteers, our intrepid fundraisers, our remarkable researchers and the amazing Leicestershire community that allows us to continue funding life-saving cancer research. Thank you!”

Our activity in supporting life-saving, internationally-renowned cancer research right here in Leicester is only made possible by the many different ways in which we and our local communities fundraise.
