The Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC)

The Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) is a membership organisation of the leading medical and health research charities in the UK.

Working with member charities and partners, they aim to support the sector’s effectiveness and advance medical research by developing best practice, providing information and guidance, improving public dialogue about research and science, and influencing government.

FRSB

The FRSB is the independent self-regulatory body for UK fundraising. They work with member charities like Yorkshire Cancer Research and the wider charity sector to encourage the highest standards of good practice in fundraising.

As members of the scheme, we follow the Institute of Fundraising’s Codes of Fundraising Practice and the principles set out in The Fundraising Promise which you can view on their website as above.

The use of animals in cancer research

A lot of cancer research in our laboratories is carried out without using animals. However, there are instances when potentially life-saving research still depends on the use of animals. As a member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC), Hope Against Cancer endorses the AMRC position on the use of animals in medical research, and will only fund animal research when there is no alternative. We believe that all our research is vital, in order to achieve our aim of helping more people to survive cancer in the future.
