Have you ever considered taking part in our Escape The Wild Challenge? Although it WILL push you out of your comfort zone, there is so much to take away with you and we guarantee you will have an incredible time. You will be taking on an amazing challenge which will see you in some of the most rugged and remote places in the UK, whilst raising money for Hope. Who better to tell you all about it than our team of 2019! Find out how they got on and overcame their fears and if by the end of this blog you want to sign up, you can do! Just get in touch with Tracey (who has already signed up herself for 2020!).
Tracey leads the way
Escape The Wild saw our Hope supporters sign up for three days in the Lake District, living outdoors for the duration of the challenge and taking part in many outdoor activities ranging from climbing through caves, to open water swimming. This year we were joined by our very own Corporate and Events Fundraiser, Tracey Hallam, who might we add, is petrified of confined spaces, darkness, heights, water and just the general outdoors. Tracey truly faced her phobias when she climbed up a mountain, crawled through dark caves and took on the eating challenge which was as bad as a bush tucker trial! When asked what she most enjoyed of her experience, Tracey commented:
“I love the way people came together to overcome fear and obstacles. We have gone beyond business contacts, we are family . I am looking forward to participating next year and sharing the journey with existing faces and welcoming some new.”
Joined by The Leicester Riders
This year we were also joined by Andy Thomson and Harrison Gamble of The Leicester Riders who know all about team work and joined the challenge to have a unique experience and to push their limits. When we caught up with Harrison, who is also a Hope Ambassador after the challenge he said:
“This was a great experience and highly entertaining, completing the challenge with people you’ve never met, breaking down mental barriers and having a great laugh along the way. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to challenge themselves, team build or just have a great time”.
Thinking of signing up for next year?
If you are looking to push yourself out of your comfort zone, make new friends and team - build then sign yourself for our 2020 Escape The Wild.
Don’t think that you can’t do it! We have people of all fitness levels and abilities and we all pull together to support one another. Chris from Steamin’ Billy particularly did the Hope team proud and conquered lots of challenges, Chris commented on his experience:
“From somebody who is physically unfit and fears heights, it’s safe to say I had an emotional roller coaster of a time . I started off fearing how the hell am I going to do this, to coming away with a sense of achievement and a beaming smile on my face. Not only did I confront some of my worst fears and push myself to the limits, I did it making new friends and raising money for Hope”
The cost of taking part is just £250 per person, with a pledge to raise a minimum of £200 for Hope through sponsorship.

What our team of 2019 had to say!
Take a read below of the feedback from this year’s challenge…
“I have never been more challenged than during this event; being overweight and out of shape, it was a daunting prospect when Raven's Crag loomed above us! But, I feel so very proud to have achieved what we did, and the teamwork and support I felt from everyone was very special. Thank you for FORCING me into it!” - Hannah Tomlinson
“Escape the Wild… this is certainly what I wanted to do once I arrived and found out what we would be doing BUT I was wrong to judge so quickly. The whole experience from start to finish was incredible and I will 100% be returning for more next year!! It definitely tested my mental and physical capability. There were boundaries that I never thought I would ever be able to overcome, there are no words to justify how amazing the few days are!!” - Steph Brown
“If you want a challenge that will push you and reward you in a way you’ve never experienced before, Escape the Wild with Hope is it! The event was hard work but we achieved things we never thought possible. Amazing trainers joined us and made us feel safe and encouraged us to push our limits, all topped off with a huge party as a reward. Escape the wild was everything we hoped it would be and more.” - Team Evolve
“This was an absolutely amazing experience. It gave me the opportunity to conquer my fears with the support and encouragement of a wonderful group of people. Best of all, it was all in the name of Charity and I am proud to have been able to contribute much - needed funding to Hope Against Cancer. I am very much looking forward to next year and reuniting with, and meeting new fellow adventurers and to face the new challenges laid before us.” - Kirstin Godson, Farmer & Carlisle – Toyota
“Challenge the Wild was one of the most mentally and physically challenging experiences. If you want to do something that will really push your limits, I would recommend. The team work throughout the day was just amazing and everyone was so supportive! A truly incredible experience. Thank you!” - Katy and Scarlett, Eileen Richards Recruitment
“This is my second time of completing Escape The Wild and this year certainly topped last. Although you had an idea of how tough it was going to be everyone soon bonded as a team and worked through the challenges together, quickly learning the strengths of team members. The evening ended with an eating competition before the after party. Although everyone was dubious, this was a great ending to the night. Thank you team Hope, I look forward to returning for the third year and seeing what challenging delights await me!” - Ian Hallam, 360 Autoleasing
